(MLA 7th ed.) How do I cite an article on microfilm / microfiche / microform?


To cite an article on microfilm, microfilm or "microform" (MLA 5.7.15), select the periodical type of the article (magazine, newspaper, journal), then choose "Microfiche: Journal article available on microfiche" as the publication medium.

Provide as much information as possible to enable your reader to locate the source again.
  • Required: The source from which the item was retrieved which consists of the publisher's name followed by the name of the collection (e.g., Newsbank: British Parliamentary Papers)
  • Optional: The microfiche volume number, publication year, number, and grid numbers.
