Creating New folders
Want to save your class some time? An option in the subscription management area allows account administrators to import a batch of student folders into NoodleBib. Log in and click the User Management link to access the feature. To generate a batch of student folders, follow the simple directions to specify folder information (personal ID; password) for each folder you wish to generate. A default password that you select will be used if you omit the password in any of your entries. If all of the students belong to a particular graduation class, you can also specify the graduation year on this form.
As an example, you might select testme as the default password and then enter the following into the import field:
NoodleTest1
NoodleTest2;newpass1
NoodleTest3;newpass2
This would result in 3 new student folders associated with your subscription:
Personal ID: NoodleTest1 - Password: testme
Personal ID: NoodleTest2 - Password: newpass1
Personal ID: NoodleTest3 - Password: newpass2
If something is wrong (e.g., a personal ID already exists, a password is too short, etc.), the screen will let you know what needs to be changed. After you make the necessary modification(s), just click the Import Folders button again. You can create up to 500 folders per batch, and each batch is tagged with the date and a description that you provide, allowing you to view the folders in a particular batch at a later date.
Updating existing folders
Above the Import Folders button, you will also find a checkbox titled "Update password, location & grad year for any user that already exists." If you mark this checkbox, any personal ID that you are trying to import that already exists under your subscription will be updated with the password, school/location and graduation year that you specify in the import (and default values) fields.
This allows you to re-import the same batch of Personal IDs year to year, if passwords need to change for the students.
Note that you can also edit the school/location and graduation year of a group of folders by doing a search under User Management, then marking the checkboxes next to the folders you wish to edit (or clicking the "Select All" link at the bottom of the search results) and clicking the "Edit Folders" button. However, this mechanism does not allow you to change the passwords for the folders (this can only be done by editing folder by folder, or by re-importing the folders as described above).
